Upstate South Carolina Secular Humanists

The Upstate SC Secular Humanists is a membership organization dedicated to building a socially nurturing and intellectually stimulating humanist community. This organization strives to achieve its goals through public advocacy projects, social concern programs, community outreach campaigns and watchdog activities.

The Upstate SC Secular Humanists meets the 4th Sunday of every month at 5:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship for a speaker/discussion session. We usually do not "officially" meet in July and the August meeting is a picnic starting at 1:30 pm at McPherson Park.

Additionally, USH supports Rosewood House, a 10-bed, long-term; transitional facility for homeless or impoverished women recovering from alcohol or drug abuse. At Rosewood House, the women are encouraged to maintain employment and be involved in educational and drug rehabilitation programs. Residents participate in the running of the home which helps them to learn coping skills and to establish goals and priorities in their lives. Rosewood House is a non-profit organization funded through government grants and community contributions.

The USH also supports the Greenville Free Medical Clinic and the American Red Cross with contributions. We also contribute "free thought" books to the local library.
